Ewa

Covers the ʻEwa plain from Kunia Road to the coast. Includes ʻEwa Beach, ʻEwa by Gentry, ʻEwa Villages, Ocean Pointe, and the Kalaeloa area.

Overview

ʻEwa covers a wide part of the ʻEwa plain, from Kunia Road toward the coast, including ʻEwa Beach, ʻEwa by Gentry, ʻEwa Villages, Ocean Pointe, Ho‘opili-adjacent areas, West Loch, and Kalaeloa. It is a large, growing Leeward community rather than one single neighborhood, with older residential areas, newer master-planned subdivisions, schools, parks, golf-course areas, and land still being planned or redeveloped.

What's unique

What distinguishes ʻEwa is how many islandwide issues meet here at the neighborhood level. Board discussions move easily from a traffic signal at Geiger Road and Kamakana Street to the Kalaeloa Regional Park plan, from Ho‘opili school capacity to Red Hill water concerns, from Pu‘uloa Range questions to possible LNG infrastructure off Campbell Industrial Park. Buyers should understand that ʻEwa is both a residential community and a place where major public infrastructure, military land, transportation planning, and growth debates are very present.

What residents are talking about

The most repeated concerns are practical and local: traffic, pedestrian safety, e-bike enforcement, school crowding, delayed road improvements, and park maintenance. Residents have pushed for safer walking routes near schools, clearer rules and enforcement for high-speed e-bikes, a long-delayed traffic signal at Geiger Road and Kamakana Street, review of traffic impacts from a proposed USTA facility near Holomua Elementary, and better maintenance of heavily used ball fields and parks. Legislators and school officials also repeatedly describe ʻEwa’s school capacity as a major long-term issue, with funding discussed for a new Ho‘opili elementary school and other campus projects.
